5 Chic ways to style mid-calf and knee-length boots

Your favourite winter footwear style is surprisingly versatile. The longer mid-calf and knee-length style boots can be worn in a number of ways and not just with skinny jeans as we were previously led to believe. Below we’ve put together a short guide highlighting 5 chic ways to wear your favourite boots in winter 2022.

With jeans and pants

You can absolutely wear your tall boots with skinny jeans. But you can also wear them with looser denim and trouser styles. The trick here is to opt for a pair of boots with a wider leg that you can tuck your jeans into. The end result is a slightly undone but effortlessly chic silhouette that is often sported by Parisian girls. No matter what denim style you opt for though, keep the tops and jackets that go with the outfit loose to give the outfit a luxe, elevated vibe.

With midi skirts

This is one of the hottest styling trends of the season when it comes to mid-calf and knee-length boots. It’s an easy way to switch things up from your usual skinny jeans. The trick here is to pick out a skirt with a slight A-line form or a bit of movement or volume (pleats and flowy materials like silk are perfect for this). You also want to keep the knit jumpers chunky and a little oversized for that luxe, bourgeois look.

With a slitted midi or maxi skirt

The slit adds a dramatic effect to the outfit, breaks up the buttoned-up vibe of a knee-high boot and midi skirt combo, and shows off more of the boot underneath. When opting for a slitted skirt, you can go for a straighter cut or more structured fit in the skirt as opposed to the more A-line or voluminous style recommended earlier.

With overcoats/trench coats

Once those temperatures start dropping and taking off your coat is no longer necessary, opt to wear yours buttoned up and turn it into THE outfit in and of itself. Kate Middleton has mastered the art of the coat and long boot combination in her signature timeless style.

With mini dresses/skirts

This dressier look is perfect for evenings and occasions. There are multiple ways to approach this combo. One of the trendiest looks is a blazer dress with black sheer tights and long boots. A white shirt dress and tall boots are perfect for daywear. Layer black sheer tights under an above-the-knee black skirt and blazer for another great day look. You can throw on a long overcoat for colder days. For dinners, opt for a beautiful flowy mini dress (tights optional).
